There is always the problem of not having any water available, but what do you do if there is plenty of water around however you are not sure of the quality?
Whether it is in the middle of a flood situation or travelling in a foreign country where water quality is suspect, having a small portable device to take the worry out could be a lifesaver.
LifeStraw is a small (less than 25cm in length) lightweight durable device perfectly suited for the compact traveller.
For a full description of this insurance against water borne disease have a look in our shop.
We have also put together some 1, 2 and 3 day kits with LifeStraw, Mainstay food and Cocoon sleeping bags that are perfect for set and forget kits "opened in the case of emergency"
Cheers

Hi,
Well 2012 has arrived and with a new year starting some thought needs to be put into planning to the next 12 months.
Whether you are planning to start in 2012 that around Australia trip or a day hiking in the Blue Mountains, insuring yourself against the unexpected will put you in a great position to come back and tell your happy and disaster tales with the same gusto!
Having on hand the tools to provide yourself with 3 days of support for the basics of survival:
- food (Mainstay 1, 2 or 3 day 5 year shelf life survival food bars)
- water (Mainstay 125ml water sachets, also 5 year shelf life)
-shelter (Survival blanket or Cocoon pocket sleeping bag)
in a compact kit with a long shelf life will help you can "set and forget" for the next 5 years! This will give you the peace of mind that if you are in a challenging situation the basics are covered and you can use your energy in more meaningful ways than just working out the basics of sustaining life.
We have a lot of mix and match kits in the shop to help you, all anchored around the Mainstay range of 5 year shelf life food and water kits. There are also a lot of links across the blog and our twitter feed @survivalstoreoz to point you to useful information to round out a complete survival kit.

(1888PressRelease) October 24, 2011 - Sole distributor in Australia for Mainstay food and water products Survival Storehouse Pty Ltd has moved from the camping and lifestyles market into the lucrative Australian mining sector. The mining industry in Australia has boomed in recent years and winning business in this very competitive area is a great reflection on the product and the company.
"Having an incredible 5 year shelf life is a very compelling feature of the food and water kits available from Mainstay. The vast distances involved in mining and exploration across Australia in some of the most inhospitable landscapes in the world make emergency preparation critical, having a compact 3 day supply food and water kit with the ability to stay viable for 5 years is great insurance", a spokesman for Survival Storehouse said today.
"The tolerances that the Mainstay food and water is capable of sustaining means that it meets the stringent Dept of Defense guidelines of SOLAS 74/83. Being able to withstand temperatures of -40 degrees celsius to +149 degrees celsius makes it perfect for the harsh Australian outback conditions".
www.survivalstorehouse.com has been distributing Mainstay food and water via its website for over 2 years now in Australia and was proud recently to be appointed the sole distributor for Australia.
